Dear Mr. Mather,
I strongly oppose your decision to proceed with new sour gas wells and access roads in the Carbondale foothills of the Castle Wilderness.
As you know, the Carbondale foothills and grasslands are critical wildlife habitat for many species, including grizzly bears and elk. They are already in a fragile state, especially after last summer's Lost Creek fire. The fire has made this remaining habitat even more valuable for wildlife. New sour gas wells, pipelines and access roads would cause inestimable damage to this sensitive ecosystem. The increase in road density, the disruption caused by long-term industrial activity in the area and the severance of an existing wildlife route are of particular concern.
I urge Shell Canada to reconsider its stance in the Castle Wilderness, which is too fragile and precious to be developed. Please halt your plans for new sour gas wells, pipelines and access roads and support protection of the Castle Wilderness as a provincial wildland park.
Sincerely,
Your Name
